More than an event recap.

The grand opening of Pickle Social Club brought together a new local pickleball destination, members of the Columbus Hotshots, vendors, players, and the surrounding pickleball community for a live event in Hilliard, Ohio. 2C Film Co was brought in to capture the event and create a library of energetic, social-first content that could showcase both the new venue and the Columbus Hotshots. Rather than treating the production as simple event documentation, the goal was to capture the relationship between place, people, and competition—showing what Pickle Social Club offered while bringing the personality and energy of the Columbus Hotshots into the story.

Transform a single live event into a collection of content that both organizations could continue using after the grand opening.

Production challenges

Live event production provides very little control over what happens in front of the camera. Attendance, gameplay, lighting, positioning, and interactions are constantly changing, while important moments often happen only once. The production required a flexible approach that could move quickly between high-energy gameplay, candid interactions, environmental details, branding, and personality-driven moments without interrupting the event. The content also needed to showcase Pickle Social Club as a destination while giving the Columbus Hotshots a strong presence without allowing either side of the partnership to overpower the other.

Built to move with the moment.

01

Pre-Production

The production was planned around facility imagery, Pickle Social Club and Columbus Hotshots branding, gameplay, player personalities, crowd moments, interviews, natural dialogue, and detail shots designed for transitions and short-form edits. This created a usable content library rather than relying only on traditional event highlights.

02

Production

The shoot combined cinematic establishing footage with fast-moving sports coverage and candid documentary-style moments. Gameplay was captured from multiple perspectives, while environmental footage established the courts, bar and lounge areas, signage, and branded details. Wireless audio captured personality-driven moments with Columbus Hotshots owner Jeff McKnight, adding another storytelling layer beyond traditional event footage.

03

Post-Production

Footage was organized around individual story and social-content opportunities rather than treated as one continuous recap. Edits were developed around pacing, music, action, and personality. Vertical-first deliverables supported modern social platforms while the larger event story supplied material for a complete hero piece. Initial finished content was delivered the following day.

The thinking behind the story
“A new social destination opened its doors, and a competitive pickleball team helped bring the space to life.”

The cameras were not only looking for successful shots or rallies. They were looking for the environment around the game—personalities, reactions, conversations, movement, branding, and the small moments that communicate what being there actually felt like. This allowed the content to represent both the competitive and social sides of modern pickleball.

Built to keep working after production wrapped.

One production became a reusable collection of marketing assets for both the venue and team. By capturing the event with multiple final uses already in mind, 2C Film Co created content capable of functioning as event coverage, brand storytelling, social media content, and future promotional material.

What this project demonstrates

The Pickle Social Club × Columbus Hotshots project demonstrates the value of approaching event production as a content opportunity rather than simply an event recap. By planning for multiple stories, platforms, and audiences during production, one afternoon of filming can become an entire library of branded content—capturing not only what happened, but the people, energy, and experience that made the event worth remembering.
