More than a promotional video.

AJ's K9 Cuts is a mobile dog-grooming business built around providing pet owners with a more personal and convenient grooming experience. 2C Film Co was brought in to create video and photography that could do more than simply show the grooming service itself. The production was designed to introduce the person behind the business, communicate the care and personality that go into the client experience, showcase the mobile grooming operation, and create a library of visual assets that AJ's K9 Cuts could continue using across its marketing. The project centered on capturing both sides of the brand: the professional service being provided and the human connection that gives customers a reason to trust the person caring for their pets. Rather than treating the production as a single promotional video, the goal was to capture enough intentional material to support multiple pieces of content across the brand's digital presence.

Create authentic, professional visual content that helps potential customers understand not only what AJ's K9 Cuts does, but the person, care, and experience behind the business.

Production challenges

Service businesses such as pet grooming are inherently personal. Customers are not simply purchasing a grooming appointment—they are trusting someone with an animal that is part of their family. That meant the production needed to communicate more than the finished appearance of a groomed pet. The content needed to capture the environment, process, personality, professionalism, and genuine interactions that help establish trust. The production also needed to generate a variety of usable marketing assets from one shoot while working inside a real operating environment rather than a controlled commercial set. Capturing authentic interactions while still creating polished, intentional imagery required the production to remain flexible and observational without losing sight of the larger brand story.

Built around care, trust, and everyday service.

01

Pre-Production

The project was approached as a small-business brand story rather than simply a collection of promotional shots. Production priorities were built around several storytelling areas: the owner behind AJ's K9 Cuts, the mobile grooming setup, the grooming process, interactions with animals, details of the business and environment, personality and candid moments, brand-focused photography, social-first visual moments, and interview material capable of explaining the philosophy behind the business. The goal was to capture enough variety during the production to create both immediate content and a larger library of marketing assets.

02

Production

Production combined intentional brand imagery with candid documentation of the actual grooming environment. The camera focused on both wide storytelling moments and smaller details: the mobile grooming operation, the physical process of grooming, interactions with animals, expressions, equipment, branding, and moments that communicate the personality behind the business. Interview content was incorporated to give AJ's K9 Cuts an opportunity to speak directly about the business, the approach to grooming, and the responsibility involved when a pet owner places an animal in someone else's care. Photography was captured alongside video so the production could provide assets useful beyond video alone. Rather than forcing every moment into a predetermined shot, the production remained flexible enough to capture authentic interactions as they happened.

03

Post-Production

The captured material was approached as a collection of reusable brand assets rather than a single finished piece. Editing focused on maintaining the authentic personality of the business while presenting AJ's K9 Cuts in a polished and professional way. Video content was structured with digital and social use in mind, while photography provided additional assets for marketing, promotional materials, social media, and other brand applications. The overall post-production approach was designed to allow one production to support multiple pieces of content rather than limiting the value of the shoot to one deliverable.

The thinking behind the story
“A single production can capture more than what a business does. It can show people why they should trust the person doing it.”

Rather than simply showing a dog being groomed, the goal was to tell the story of the trust behind the service. For a pet owner, choosing a groomer involves handing someone responsibility for an animal they care deeply about. That made the person behind AJ's K9 Cuts an important part of the story. The production focused on the personality behind the business; trust between groomer, pet, and owner; the care involved in the grooming process; the convenience and character of the mobile grooming experience; authentic interactions with animals; the professional environment behind the service; and creating familiarity before a potential customer ever books an appointment. The result is content intended to help an audience see AJ's K9 Cuts not simply as a grooming service, but as a person and business they can feel comfortable trusting with their pet.

Built to keep working after production wrapped.

The AJ's K9 Cuts production created a broader library of professional video and photography that the business can draw from across its marketing rather than relying on a single promotional asset. By capturing the owner, grooming environment, mobile setup, animals, brand details, and authentic interactions within one production, the project created material capable of supporting multiple stories and marketing needs. The production also established a foundation for AJ's K9 Cuts to present the business through both the quality of the service and the personality and care behind it. Content was designed to support use across the website, Instagram, Facebook, short-form social media, digital marketing, and promotional materials.

What this project demonstrates

AJ's K9 Cuts demonstrates how small-business content can become more valuable when the production focuses on the person and experience behind the service—not simply the service itself. By approaching the shoot as both a brand story and a content library, 2C Film Co created visual assets designed to build familiarity, communicate trust, and continue supporting the business across multiple marketing needs. A single production can capture more than what a business does. It can show people why they should trust the person doing it.
